Assalamualaikum and good day to all readers;
I was working in one of the subsidiaries of PETRONAS located in PERAK; Here I want to share with readers all about raising funds for the MH17. PETRONAS has been announced the setting up of a seed fund called ‘Care for MH017’. We invite anyone and also all business corporation that wishes to contribute in this fund to assist the government in providing support to the families of the victims. Let's do our part now.
Dear Colleagues,
We woke up this morning hoping that the disaster of MH17 was a just nightmare. We are deeply saddened by this shocking tragedy. As Malaysia still mourns over the unsolved disappearance of MH370, another aviation tragedy of this magnitude is simply incomprehensible.
MAS confirms that MH17 was carrying a total of 298 people – 283 passengers, including three infants of various nationalities, and 15 Malaysian crew members. Initial reports confirmed that the passengers include members from within our oil & gas industry.
In light of this, PETRONAS has set up a seed fund named ‘Care for MH17’, which is intended to assist in providing support to the families of the victims. We have started the ball rolling with a RM10 million contribution, and we welcome other concerned corporate citizens from within and outside the oil & gas industry to pull their resources towards this fund.
On a related note, I would like to also implore all members of my PETRONAS family, in this blessed month of Ramadan to step forth and partake in this endeavor. Those who wishes to contribute may do so by contacting careforMH017@petronas.com.my.
While nothing in this world will undo this tragedy, let us not underestimate the small changes we can make. May our prayers and this small deed lighten the burdens of those in sufferings.
Our heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to all 283 passengers and 15 crews on board Flight MH17, and to their families and friends.
